Birthday parties!

Last weekend, both Allen and Brandon celebrated their birthdays with friends. :) On Saturday night, we all headed out to Bubba's for a down home birthday BBQ celebration for Allen. Allen invited a couple of his co-workers and my friends, my mom, our ayi and the kids came along as well. YUM-MMMY!!!! We bought some alcohol filled truffles in lieu of a birthday cake and the kids ate brownies at the restaurant. It was a good time! :)


The next day (Sunday), we headed to an Art Gallery for Brandon's birthday party with his friends. They had such a good time "splatter painting" their posters, their clothes...and the rest of the room as well. hee hee The kids all turned out to be true artists, creating incredible works of art. It was a fun and messy activity...just what a boy likes for his birthday! :) We plan to have the kids' artwork framed for the families, as a momento of the event.

The birthday cake left something to be desired...unfortunately. Cakes are generally very expensive here and taste like cardboard. To get a "theme" on any one of them is near impossible. We ended up going to the Shangri-La, a very expensive hotel...hoping they could create a better cake than most. HUGE disappointment! I was soooo bummed. But, the kids hardly seemed to notice...which is all that truly matters anyway, I guess. Although, I have to say, we won't be going to the Shangri-La again for a cake.
